The Woods

My three children (9, 6 & 2) and me had a fantastic stay here. I am from the area originally so it was a great base to visit family and friends. Although we didn’t dine at the Woodsman restaurant I have in the past and would highly recommend. The lodge itself was quaint, spacious for our needs and adequately stocked with utensils, mop, hoover, iron and ironing board etc. It would be an amazing place to stay in the summer; sat out on the decking looking at dumyat and the foothills while the kids play at the play area 🥰 A few things in the lodge could have been slightly better thought through, eg: full length mirror was positioned nowhere near sockets so I couldn’t style my hair. The mirror in the lounge area must’ve been hung by a tall male as I’m 5 foot 8 and it was still too high for me. There was a slight smell of damp when entering the lodge, not overwhelming though. After a shower I realised that it was leaking onto the floor, this being the cause of the damp smell. The bathroom could have benefited from shelving or cabinet to store toiletries. All minor things. We were comfortable, warm and had space for our needs. Equipped very well. I liked the added touch of sponge, fairy, bins bags, towels and kitchen towel. Although I had brought all my own. I’d love to return. Nothing was too much bother. Even when we had a power cut scaring the children, the maintenance guy arrived promptly and fixed it in a jiffy. Thanks for making our stay one of the best.

Nice relaxing holiday, clean lodge. Lots to do in the area. This was our 3 or 4 trip and will be back.

My partner and I wanted a couple of days somewhere quiet, so we booked the mini lodge. Great facilities and lodge was immaculate to be fair. Staff were lovely. Quite roomy for a ‘mini’ lodge, being off peak season was ideal. I slept like a baby but my partner is tall but all in all the bed was comfortable. Didn’t use the bunk beds but again, clean and a nice environment.
