Captain Cook’s Haven

4.3

out of 5

Captain Cook’s Haven is beautifully set, on two levels, nestling beside the banks of the River Esk as it winds its way from the rugged beauty of the North Yorkshire Moors towards the bustling seaside resort of Whitby, just a mile away.

These cottages at Captain Cooks Haven are all privately owned, individually furnished and well equipped. Captain Cooks Haven offers an ideal touring centre for exploring the nearby fishing villages, sandy bays and seaside resorts. You enjoy the use of a superb indoor heated swimming pool and on both top and bottom levels of the site are play areas for children of all ages.

The historic city of York, Castle Howard and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park are also within easy reach.

The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway also runs from Whitby to Pickering and passes Captain Cook’s Haven.

Enjoy a ride or walk along the old railway track towards Whitby or Robin Hoods Bay (6 miles). Other places of interest in the area are Whitby Folk Festival, North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway and Flamingoland Theme Park (20 miles)

No Wi-Fi, so couldn’t work when I needed to. Also heating didn’t work, so had to rely on electric heaters. Cobwebs and hair everywhere. Bulbs out in a few light, if the lights even worked. Old food in the freezer, that made it unusable. Then odd job bloke was called to sort the freezer out, and bloke came with a hairdryer and Sat defrosting it… completely waist of our time stood waiting! Very run down cottage. Booked a week in 2023 and loved the cottage we had, booked 2 week in 2024 and it was a real let down. Had it booked 12 months and was looking forward to it…couldn’t even stay in it over Christmas as was too depressing.
