Captain Cook’s Haven

4.4

out of 5

Captain Cook’s Haven is beautifully set, on two levels, nestling beside the banks of the River Esk as it winds its way from the rugged beauty of the North Yorkshire Moors towards the bustling seaside resort of Whitby, just a mile away.

These cottages at Captain Cooks Haven are all privately owned, individually furnished and well equipped. Captain Cooks Haven offers an ideal touring centre for exploring the nearby fishing villages, sandy bays and seaside resorts. You enjoy the use of a superb indoor heated swimming pool and on both top and bottom levels of the site are play areas for children of all ages.

The historic city of York, Castle Howard and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park are also within easy reach.

The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway also runs from Whitby to Pickering and passes Captain Cook’s Haven.

Enjoy a ride or walk along the old railway track towards Whitby or Robin Hoods Bay (6 miles). Other places of interest in the area are Whitby Folk Festival, North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway and Flamingoland Theme Park (20 miles)

Been coming here for years and we love! Perfect location! The only thing that disappointed me was I had to pay £10 to use the pool which has always been free ! All we used to pay was a refundable deposit on the key! If you arrive on a Friday after 3.00pm the pool closes at 5pm , then on Saturday it’s only open for 3hours! So if you are on a short stay of 3 nights the only full day open is Sunday! Think it should be made clear when you book that you have to pay for the pool! Still really enjoyed our short stay!

We’ve stayed many times over the years in different accommodation. The location is great, walking distance into Whitby but to note it is hilly if you struggle with walking. We stayed in February and the site was quiet, the house was well equipped, just a couple of cons the heater in the main bedroom didn’t work but they did provide a couple of electric heaters and the settee could do with an update felt like we were sitting on the frame. Other than that we had a great stay and would recommend.
