Let’s do the negatives first! I phone reception to find out a check in time and was told anytime after 12pm. But, when we arrived at 2.30pm we were told that because I’d booked with Hoseasons not Haven we couldn’t book in until after 5pm!NOT a good start! Next, that evening, we went to ‘The Mash & Barrel for dinner. There were quite a few items on the menu stating 2 for £20! Although on closer perusal ‘steak meals’ had a surcharge of £5 each! So, why list them at 2 for £20? It should be 2 for £30! Very misleading! There was also another item that had a surcharge of £3 each! Another misrepresentation! Then, THE TABLES! The tables were STICKY! They might have been clean but STICKYNESS isn’t conducive to cleanliness! Might I suggest changing the cleaning product that doesn’t leave the table so sticky? The last negative was ‘Cook’s Fish &Chips. The QR code stated a midweek offer of a regular piece of fish and chips for £9.99!So we made a point of going on Wednesday (at about 6.30pm) ( they closed at 9pm)! Upon ordering 2 Fish and Chips at the offer price, I was told they could only serve Cod Bites or Sausage and chips at that price! I pointed out the QR code and the offer but the shop assistant insisted it was Cod bites only. I was very disappointed and annoyed and told her this. We declined and went into the Mash & Barrell! Really disappointing and really annoying! That sounds like a lot of negatives but not many really. Our Caravan/Home was a fabulous six berth one. The bed was super comfortable and the home was equipped with everything we needed! The breakfasts in the Mash & Barrel were excellent. Very tasty and good value for money! Shame about the sticky tables! lol! Also, the evening meals we chose (without surcharges) were, once again delicious and the service was excellent! ALL the staff were very friendly and efficient! We will definitely be booking another break next year around the same time. We like to visit different place though so it won’t be Quay West. It was Filey last year, Wales this year. Next Spring, as long as I’m still able, who know where?
