The lodge was amazing, it was lovely and warm when we arrived, it was clean and tidy, so inviting. We had a great time walking round all the trails then coming back and relaxing in the hot tub. I will say that we were a bit disappointed that all the activities were only on a Thursday and Saturday, we were staying Monday - Friday so it meant for the first 3 days there was nothing for our children (8 years old) to do outside the lodge. We didn't see any timetable when booking the lodge so we were a bit let down on this side.We went to the café on site twice during our stay, once for lunch and once for breakfast. Lunch was lovely, locally sourced food and decent portions. Breakfast, however, was a great disappointment. We went for breakfast on the last day and ordered pancakes, baked breakfast, sausage sandwich and a mini kids breakfast. The sandwich and the mini kids breakfast were fine, but 10 mins after ordering, we were told that there were no pancakes (even though we were there first thing in the morning) which meant my daughter didn't have anything, as nothing else on the menu suited her - not a real problem, she could share my baked breakfast. The server apologised and went back to the kitchen, I was waiting for her to come back to give a refund but she didn't, we had to go back to her and ask for it, when she said she had to go get her manager. I understand that a manager would be required for the refund, however we were disappointed that we had to actively go back to her and get it, rather than it being offered.Once the breakfast arrived, the pain au chocolat and croissant were stale. Rock solid! Couldn't even cut into it, the more we tried to cut, the more it crumbled. We eventually gave up because we had to get on the road.Overall, the break was really good and relaxing but felt there could have been more activities over the week.
