The Old Forge is a charming stone-built cottage tucked away in a peaceful lane within the historic town of Alnwick. The property is beautifully furnished throughout with much thought, care and attention to detail. The kitchen/dining area is meticulously presented and leads through to a cosy living area where there is a sumptuous corner sofa as well as a comfortable cuddle chair. Both bedrooms are on the first floor along with a fresh family bathroom too. There is a fully enclosed patio garden which is an idyllic spot to dine alfresco.
Although the position of The Old Forge is situated in a tranquil lane tucked behind the main street of Alnwick town centre, there are many facilities all within easy walking distance. There is a wide array of amenities available within Alnwick including a cinema/playhouse, restaurants, independent shops and a variety of pubs. Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts), is a popular visitor attraction. Also well worth a visit is Alnwick Gardens; a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including a grand cascade waterfall and poison garden where guests can dine in the restaurant of the largest tree house in Europe around a mile from The Old Forge.
The Old Forge is an excellent choice for those seeking a superbly presented base that gives easy access to explore the beautiful 20 mile stretch of Heritage coastline designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the east and the wild and lonely expanses of the heather-capped Cheviot Hills can be found to the west. Beach 4 miles. Shop 150 yards, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
