From the garden, there is a short walk to the parking space. Leith Hill Place and Tower is a popular historic National Trust site, and is the south of England’s highest point, offering breathtaking views. It was once a favourite visiting place of Charles Darwin, the famous naturalist, and he conducted experiments in the grounds, and it now attracts visitors worldwide who come to see the popular gardens. Ralph Vaughen Williams, the renowned composer resided there, with his wife who was from the Wedgwood family, known for their porcelain.
There are many popular country inns and pubs in the locality, mostly serving fine fayre, and picturesque villages and hamlets to discover nearby include Shere with its 13th century church, tea rooms and duck pond. Also located close to the property are Abinger Hammer, Holmbury St Mary, Ockley and Forest Green. Dorking is about a 10-minute drive, a delightful town with various amenities, plus a mainline station to London. Guildford, about a 20-minute drive, has a cathedral, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, large shopping centre and cosmopolitan eateries. In addition to the lido, indoor pool, Spectrum Leisure Centre, you can find Wild Wood Adventure Park, ideal for children of all ages.
