Only 2 minutes’ walk from the seafront, Inverwick Cottage is in the west end of this attractive, historic town. In addition to its wonderful beaches, Nairn offers a wide variety of attractions, including championship golf courses, a marina with water sports options, swimming pools, spas, tennis courts, and an art gallery. Nairn is also well known as being a great place to spot the resident Moray Firth bottlenose dolphins. The dolphins are also frequently spotted at the mouth of the River Nairn, so get yourself to the harbour wall near the river mouth throughout your stay for a great chance of a fantastic experience.
Nairn is a mecca for golfers and Inverwick Cottage is the perfect place to base yourself for as many rounds as you can fit in. Furthermore, on the topic of golf, Nairn is well placed to try other Highland courses. Castle Stuart Links, host of multiple Scottish Open’s, is only fifteen minutes in the car. There are some outstanding courses in the Cairngorms National Park at Grantown-on-Spey, Carrbridge and Aviemore that are only a short drive away. Tain, Royal Dornoch, Golspie and Brora are a bit further, but worth the drive to play courses designed by the greats - Old Tom Morris and James Braid. Beyond golf there are many other activities to take part in.
Those into walking and biking will be spoilt for choice with fabulous coastal, woodland and mountain routes on the doorstep and nearby. And those wanting to simply tour the area, Nairn is well placed close to Inverness for those wanting to explore some of the NC500 that starts and finishes in Inverness. Loch Ness is just beyond the city to the west. And east from Nairn you have the fabulous Moray Coastline with picturesque fishing villages dotted all the way to Peterhead. Crovie and Pennan are particularly special, with the latter being familiar to those fans of Local Hero. Important to note is the proximity of Inverwick Cottage to supermarkets, caf‘s, restaurants and bars. All within walking distance.
