Escape to this exquisite location surrounded by spectacular scenery of lochs and mountains, Kinnaird Estate Cottages are situated in Highland Perthshire and a perfect location for a holiday in the countryside. Spreading over more than 6000 acres it has everything to be expected on a Scottish Highland Sporting Estate with a working beef and sheep farm. The seven cottages are situated at various idyllic locations spread across the estate and are perfect for families, friends, couples and single guests looking for a last minute holiday or a short break. The local supermarket delivers to the estate so you can arrange your menu before leaving home.

In an idyllic location on the banks of the Tay, Heron Cottage restored to a very high standard in 2021 yet maintaining the character of the cottage and incorporating up to date facilities, is perfect for couples and families. Located between the Logierait Bridge and the Upper Kinnaird Fishing Hut, the detached cottage has lawns leading right down to the water’s edge. Offering an up-close encounter with nature it is named after one of the many birds you may spot from your front door.
Due to the proximity to the river, this cottage is not suitable for small children. Over two levels, the entrance porch has a washer/dryer and a handy boot store. On the ground floor an open plan living area has cosy seating and a wood burner, an ideal spot for everyone to relax after a day exploring. The kitchen area is equipped with modern appliances and a dining table. A bedroom with super kingsize bed and en-suite facilities on the ground floor, and a further bedroom on the first floor with a super kingsize bed, also with en-suite facilities and views over the river.

There are some lovely walks in the local area, as well as birdwatching or just relaxing and enjoying the peace and tranquillity while surrounded by spectacular scenery. By prior arrangement with the estate, guests are able to fish for salmon in season (at cost) on one of the most highly regarded beats on the River Tay; loch fishing is also available at Two Hill Loch. The estate has a long history dating back to the early 1600s when it was owned by the Stewart family. Over the centuries many famous people have been known to have lived or stayed here including several leading Scottish literary figures including James Hogg, Sir Walter Scott’s poet friend and protégé.

For guests who enjoy being out in the great outdoors, this area of Perthshire provides walking, cycling and hill walking to suit all abilities. Various water sports can be enjoyed on Loch Tay, with kayaking and white water rafting nearby. There are several local golf courses in the area and the championship Gleneagles course is within an hour’s drive. Whilst in a rural location guests are within easy reach of the A9 with Perth, Inverness, Stirling and Edinburgh all within easy driving distance. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
