Ghillies at Riverside is a bespoke handcrafted shepherd’s hut inspired by a traditional design and hand-crafted in the Highlands. Using high quality materials throughout, it is small but beautifully formed and provides a warm, cosy and relaxing place to stay in a wonderful setting. The shepherd’s hut is set in a large garden in a very quiet and secluded rural area.
Ghillies at Riverside is situated in the small hamlet of Inchnadamph in the stunning Assynt area of the North West Highlands. It is surrounded by hills, lochs and the River Traligill that flows just yards from the property where salmon and trout fishing is available (by permit, purchased locally).
A short walk from the riverside car park along the bank of the river leads to the country garden and up into the hut. The accommodation is open plan with a small kitchen area. The full-size double bed, set into the main window, has high quality linen and colour co-ordinated soft furnishings. At the far end of the hut is a shower room. Immediately adjoining there is a ‘wee ghillies’ which provides a useful space for boots and outdoor gear. The ghillies is very well equipped throughout and built to a high specification, with reclaimed, solid wood flooring and double glazing. As an addition, the owners have provided a fire pit which doubles as a barbecue for al fresco dining whilst overlooking the tumbling river.
The surrounding area is a haven for wildlife. Deer are regular visitors, and eagles, otters, pine marten and numerous small birds are all seen close by. The local area is renowned for its archaeology and geology and attracts interest from around the world. It is also an outdoor pursuit paradise with climbing, hill walking, kayaking, golf and cycling all available locally. The renowned North Coast 500 Route is just a stone’s throw away, which passes through some of the most dramatic scenery to be found anywhere in the British Isles. Beach 15 miles. Shop and restaurant 12 miles, pub 13¾ miles.
Ghillies at Riverside can be booked together with Riverside Cottage (ref 29339) to accommodate up to 6 guests.
