      | Other Location:This lodge is located in the heart of the countryside (+), right beside a lively river, gorgeous. During summer heat, however, this means HUNDREDS of horseflies. wasps, black flies, midgies, etc. The hottub doesn't have a roof above so prepare to get very hot and very bitten/harassed. There are dozens of adorable ducks waddling about from lodge to lodge looking for some bread. Many bunnies hopping around early mornings. It's beautiful no doubt. A small playpark around the corner with the other caravan homes, housing a couple of swings, slide, etc. Nearby you have Hadrian's Wall and Vindolandah Roman Fort and Museum, very interesting. Nearest Tesco about half an hour away.Accommodation:The lodge itself is okay at best. 3 bedrooms, with a double and two sets of two singles. It has most of the facilities you would expect, however, if hygiene is a priority then this may not be for you. The carpets are highly stained and worn, the dishwasher is unusable as it absolutely reeks thanks to a big puddle of dirty water sitting at the bottom, the washing machine leaves your clothes in a pool of their dirty water and there is no way to determine the settings as it's very worn (the dial). The sink was dirty (just needed a quick scrub down to remove residue of food stuff) and there was a generally bad odour in the bathroom from what smelled like sewage pipes. The decor is minimal with shiplap on every wall, and cobwebs in every corner (I hoovered these myself with the on site Henry Hoover, along with a mass of flies and wasps). In it's early decorated days it would've been gorgeous. The couch has seen better days. The TV remotes could do with a good clean, visibly covered in dirt. It's smaller than it looks in pictures. Also there was no air conditioning so if it's hot out and you don't want swarms of wasps and horseflies attacking you then good luck in the 31.5 degree heat inside. Grill doesn't work.Hot tub didn't always clean itself ( I think it's supposed to be programmed) and each day would be riddled with an abundance of dead flies and wasps, so not particularly pleasant to get into the next day.I'd say it was okay for the price we paid but I was somewhat disappointed with the standard of cleanliness and poor facilities. Nothing to be done about the flies, it is the countryside after all, but I would probably recommend coming here in the winter because it genuinely ruined the experience for me.
