Holiday Parks in Norfolk

Norfolk has all the ingredients that make it one of the most ideal self-catering break destinations in the UK. Situated in the east of England it has a long coastline of clean sandy beaches and lovely seaside resorts, a rural countryside of heathland, forests and nature reserves extending across a gentle landscape which is just perfect of walkers and cyclists.

Norfolk is probably most famous for its Broads; which covers some 125 miles of lock-free man-made waterways that meander through the most beautiful countryside. The Broads is in fact a National Park of rivers and lakes, quiet walking paths and cycle trails, so you don’t need a boat to enjoy this lovely part of the county. It’s also the site of internationally important wetlands, which provide a vital habitat to many creatures.

North Norfolk has a spectacular coastline with long stretches of pristine sandy beaches, coastal villages and an interior of rolling hills, wildlife and pretty towns and villages. Much of the coastal area is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town of Cromer became a place where the Victorians and Edwardians came to holiday and the town’s architecture reflects this with grand pier.

The historical city of Norwich is well worth a place on your holiday agenda; this modern city has strong links to the past with a Norman Cathedral, city castle, clock tower and medieval cobbled streets. It’s easy to get around the city centre which has all the modern facilities you would expect including Europe’s largest undercover market. Here there are also museums and theatres, old pubs and delightful riverside walks.

To the west visitors will find the wetlands of The Fens and more lovely sandy beaches. Kings Lynn is the principal town here and has a rich maritime history as a trading port due to its position on The Great River Ouse which flows into The Wash Estuary. The town’s medieval heritage is portrayed by its cobbled streets and stunning buildings. Just along the coast is Hunstanton, a lovely seaside resort that’s perfect for family seaside holidays.

The vast forest of The Brecks lie in the south of the region includes Thetford Forest; 20,000 acres forest with cycling, walking and horse riding trials – just perfect for great days out! Moving slightly east the country becomes one of quiet country lanes and sleepy villages, ancient abbeys, cosy tea rooms and old inns.
