| Other Holmans Wood is a beautiful, quiet, and secluded holiday site. The lodge was immaculate—spotlessly clean, well-equipped, and the added bonus of a washer/dryer was a genuine highlight. The hot tub was excellent: hot, powerful jets, and a godsend for my aching joints. Staff were faultless—professional, polite, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay.The main downside? A recurring issue with guests allowing their dogs off-lead around the lodges. Our dog was kept on-lead at all times unless we were walking the designated meadow trail, well away from other guests. Unfortunately, other visitors seemed to treat the park like their private garden, letting dogs roam freely, dodge cars, and cause unnecessary stress to leashed dogs. While this isn’t the fault of the site itself, some firm signage reminding guests of the rules would go a long way.As for facilities, the swimming pools at nearby Finlake Resort (a short 7-minute drive) were excellent. Booking was straightforward—limited to one hour every 12 hours, but the pools were never crowded. The changing rooms were clean, and lockers were easy to use via wristband—no need for coins.We did book one adult-only early morning swim, but it was spoiled by a group of regulars (Ginny and her crew) who dominated the pool and refused to share the unofficial lanes, making the experience unpleasant and cutting our visit short. The indoor pool was quite shallow, except in their occupied area.In contrast, the outdoor pool was far superior—consistent 1.35m depth, comfortably warm, and ideal for a full session with the kids.
