Laura Isle of Man | Other Wow Gadlas Park has been such a great find, we had a superb stay in the Buckingham Lodge and can not wait to return already, it was great value for money. It's a beautiful site in a rural location with many great places to visit, like Shrewsbury, Llangollen and Ludlow. The site is absolutely fantastic for dogs too, there is a small, fenced wooded area that you can let your dog off the lead. Our dog was also secure within the cabin as it was fenced so we could enjoy the doors open during the day. My husband thoroughly enjoyed fishing too and caught a 20lbs carp! The attention to detail inside the cabin was absolutely excellent, we were left a selection of lovely teas, milk, a box of chocolates, a bottle of wine and robes and slippers. The cabin was spotless, the bedding was beautiful and the beds were extremely comfy. The hot tub felt like such a luxurious treat too.

John Brierley Hill | Other Our lodge was tired - We tend to do a couple of lodge holidays each year so I am comparing like for like accommodation across the country based on the same price bracket. Start with the bad bits 1st . Zero storage facilities for food/provisions, Microwave could have been surface mounted to allow a little space as it took up 2 cupboards. Boiler located in the kitchen stood out in a makeshift cupboard that looked unsightly and was an incumbrance to general use of the kitchen again it took up valuable storage. PLASTIC glasses - Noooooo ! we are grown ups not all children. If you want a break from dishwashing chores then this isn't for you [ no dishwasher/washing machine/drying facilities - note none are implied in the literature].Dining table was "sticky" it appeared to have been hastily renovated and whatever was applied to the surface refused to dry/seal? allowing place mats , laptops etc to attempt to become permanent fixtures. Dining chairs need replacing- covers were poor and construction slightly rickety. We had a couple of days of torrential rain which found its way through the roof into the living area and targeted the main sofa [ reported] clothes rail approx. 40cm wide in the master bedroom and no real draw space . TV and bed will be difficult to navigate due to the lack of space if you have mobility issues. The on suite toilet is a head scratcher ! it is almost an afterthought! a toilet in a room that is barely wide enough to accommodate it and the master toilet located in the shower room is less than 2m away ?? There is a wash basin under the bedroom window that just sits their? while the main bathroom suite is possibly closer ? water pressure is fab for car washing but the basins are so small you get a shower each time you wash your hands, 2nd bedroom has an old chest of drawers and a makeshift clothes rail for storage [ its where we put our clothes/cases etc ] .It would be very difficult for 2 couples to stay in comfort. Hot tub - steps are "lethal" bowing decking style steps . The front facing supporting the upper step has broken away and is an accident waiting to happen [ reported]. Pathway [ decking ] to the outdoor socialising area starts in the middle so one has to cross the very poorly laid gravel bed before "safety". lounge seats were rusty and mouldy and decking needs jet wash/ antilsip coating asap. makeshift roof on the hotub broken and flaps in the wind just waiting to fly away. You are not lakeside as marketing suggest and the area is NOT quiet - the main road has a lot of traffic, in hindsight due to the nature of the area it is as you should expect from heavy plant and farm vehicles that are constantly trundling around the area and busy working away. Fishing is "hard" even for the experienced angler and pricey for what its offering. Good bits - hot tub brilliant, Lodge clean and gardens well tendered. bed comfortable and bedding/linen of a good quality. Tv good , internet quite quick, Summary - we wouldn't return based on the accommodation quality and lack of facilities and in our opinion it would be "cramped" should 2 couples wish to stay a full week. location to the main road offering little peace and quiet which was what we were looking for! The general area is quite nice located next to pretty Ellesmere and only a short distance from Llangollen and the beautiful countryside it offers so worth a visit , my opinion the lodge needs "thought" ensuite ? Storage ? outdoor area ?could and in the price range should be to a better standard there are far better quality/value accommodation to choose from . On a final note we had to change our dates due to health issues and the owners were more than helpful.
